Stmnt 1 cannot be complete. The expression has to equal something :)
Conocieur, please complete the stmnt.

The answer cannot be B, because x can be 1 as well.

A question: if x = 1, does (x^2)/4 leave a remainder of 3?

Me too for B (until statement A is corrected).
Matador,
When 1 is divided by 4, remainder is 1 and not 3.
1/4 = ((4*0)+1)/4 => Remainder is 1
Dividend/Divisor = ((Quotient*Divisor)+Remainder)/Divisor

Me too for B (until statement A is corrected).
