Dear all , I want to ask is this program good?

I’ve heard things like even if you get the right salary, you get roles in which you’re stuck

Could be bank roles etc or any managerial roles but not in good companies

hi, i have exp of 7 years with a largest manufacturing company, but due to major accident i wasnt in the job and have 5 years gap year with gmat score of 695, and in all my 10th 12th and UG GPA is 7.0%, can i apply for PGDM and PGPM programs?

The XLRI ExPGDM (formerly GMP) is an interesting option for professionals who already have a few years of work experience and are looking to accelerate their career growth. What I like about the program is that it combines XLRI's strong brand and alumni network with a curriculum designed for experienced candidates rather than fresh graduates.

I'm curious to know more about the Class of 2025 profile. Does anyone have insights on the average work experience, industry mix, and post-program career outcomes? The five-year gap is the thing that will define this application more than the 695 or the GPA, and the fact that it came from a major accident actually changes how adcoms read it.

•⁠ ⁠Most programs that evaluate career gaps treat involuntary ones, especially those tied to medical or safety crises, very differently from voluntary gaps; the key is that you own the narrative directly and early, with a clear account of the accident, recovery, and what you did or learned during those years, because adcoms will not fill that silence charitably on their own.

•⁠ ⁠A 695 on the Classic GMAT sits a bit below the median for the stronger PGDM programs (programs like PGDM at SPJIMR or MDI typically cluster around 700 to 720 for competitive consideration), so the score is not a disqualifier but it is not a cushion either, which means your seven years at a large manufacturing firm, and the seniority or scope that came with it, need to carry more weight in the application.

•⁠ ⁠The GPA of 7.0%, read on the Indian percentage scale, is a soft flag for programs with academic cut-offs; PGPM programs, which are designed for experienced professionals, often weigh this less heavily than pre-experience PGDM tracks do.

The path through this is a strong candidacy story, not a numbers fix.

The real question here is not what the class profile looks like on paper, but whether the ExPGDM's particular structure delivers the kind of career pivot or acceleration that justifies the opportunity cost for someone already mid-career.

•⁠ ⁠Adcoms and program directors for cohorts like this tend to skew toward candidates with six to ten years of experience, and the industry mix historically leans toward manufacturing, financial services, and consulting, so the network value you get depends heavily on whether those sectors align with where you want to go post-program.
•⁠ ⁠Placement outcomes for experienced-hire programs are structurally different from two-year MBA placements: lateral moves and senior role upgrades dominate over fresh lateral hiring, which means the ROI math is almost entirely about the delta between your current trajectory and your post-program one, not a clean comparison with fresh-grad cohorts.
•⁠ ⁠International exposure at XLRI ExPGDM has typically been through short immersion modules rather than exchange semesters, a distinction worth clarifying with the admissions office if global mobility is a core goal.
•⁠ ⁠The alumni network question matters more than the brand question at this stage of career.

The program rewards candidates who can articulate a specific gap it fills for them; the cleaner that case is, the more value the experience delivers.
