I'm trying to narrow my consortium schools and I was wondering if anyone had any insight on these 2 schools. I'm not a complete label whore but I'm struggling between the fact that Yale is known globally bc of it's undergrad program which would help if I work outside the country (a high possibility). UNC is known as a good school to those that are in the habit of researching MBA schools. The yale MBA program does not seem as strong - just wondering.

Some perspective - work in accounting - looking to move into marketing strategy. Minority female. Especially for those that have gone there, can you talk about life, internship opportunities (did the companies hire a lot from you class) and anything you think might be helpful to know.

Hey there - so risk aside (those two schools are not risk similar) I would say go with Yale. Their program is actually really strong and their integrated core approach is really making some waves. And when it come down to it - brand is one of the most important things. Within tiers, culture and fit make decisions but between tiers, go with brand.

I'd tend to agree too. Yale is still Yale.

Not only do they have an great MBA, but a great law school, a great literature department... etc. etc. etc. :)

Thanks for sharing your profile. On the brand front i think it's clear that Yale has the better brand even with the slightly lower ranked program. One other thing to consider is your career goals especially in context with where you want to live. Yale is very close to NYC so recruiting opportunities in the Northeast are pretty strong if you have an interest working in the south or southeast after school UNC obviously a better choice. So brand is important but keep some of the other things in mind.
