I got GMAT club tests access through collecting kudos and thus had three months free access to the tests. The tests are a great help as it allows one to create his/her own tests by selecting the number of questions, topics and difficulty levels. One can use this feature effectively as and when one gets more confident in his/her prep stage. The difficutly level on the Tests may be high but it prepares you for the worst and when you finally see the solution you realise that even the 700 level questions were doable. That's the beauty of these Tests. They keep you on your toe and at the same time make you realise the importance of paying attention to finer details in the problem.
For Verbal I would say the tests lack collection of good quality questions which are within the purview of official questions. I solved a few SC and RC questions and as I am pretty familiar with the pattern of questions asked on the GMAT, I realised that these were not really falling within those parameters.
Nevertheless, as I am someone who's less confident in Quants, the GMAT Club tests are a blessing. Their in depth analysis really helps you organise your overall performance and almost makes use of error log redundant. I'd suggest go for them, even if just for quants!
Firstly I would like to say that Gmat Club is an extremely helpful and updated community. It has every information one needs about Gmat. Coming back to the tests I found Gmat Club test extremely good predictor of Official GMAT. It's one of the best gmat test experience one can have in the market. It's scoring system and questions are quite accurate in difficulty. To be honest one can rely on Gmat Club test.
Secondly GC test are somewhat difficult , not crazy difficult but there is a difference of 5-10%.
All in all it is a good practice and let's you know pretty accurate score and helps by letting you know where you stand.
To improve the gmat club test I would suggest adding more test so that i can be confident enough before giving Gmat as there are not many good gmat test Available in the market.
Really like the tests. For math, you would not have to practice separately as these tests are more than sufficient. The tests cover all the important concepts starting from basics to 700+ standard questions. Personally I feel, this should be a good start for the whole test prep. The interface is also really good and more or less gives you the feel of the actual gmat exam. For this reason, I would definitely recommend taking these tests to start your test prep.
More tests in Verbal section would have been useful. Only 8 tests are available and i felt this is a little less.
Overall, the quantitative tests provided are a great resource. I was really struggling with Quant - finishing around the 50th percentile every test (with a 42V for reference).
I started taking GMAT Club's quant tests and started noticing a difference. These tests will help you prepare for the test, and they will help you improve your score, definitely.
Only reason that I did not give a 5 star review: the quant tests provided are substantially more difficult than the tests that anybody will face on the actual test. I understand the logic behind that, but some questions/sets are just pointless to even face.
Still a great way to prepare.
The Good:
The best thing about Gmatclub tests is the quality of the questions and the intensive practice and revision of fundamental arithmetic , geometric and algebraic concepts you receive once you do it. I used Gmatclub tests only in untimed conditions as the tests were of slightly higher difficulty level to be completed in 75 min, but I would always feel more confident and stronger after doing these tests.
Scope for improvement: Like I said, the questions are of relatively higher difficulty and not very reflective of actual Gmat. So don't lose heart if you scored in lower range. I received 49 in my actual GMAT test but scored in late 30s and early 40s in Gmatclub tests. I still recommend these tests as they help to bolster your quant performance and are like bootcamp training for quant section of Gmat.
I believe that the GMAT club tests are reflective of the level of an individual's preparation. Although at times the GMATClub tests can give you a few 500 level questions in a row irrespective of your performance up until that point, the overall test scores seem accurate.
The GmatClub tests have a good mix of a variety of questions and writing these tests will help you assess your strengths and weaknesses better.
I do feel that a few of the English questions could be explained in greater detail, though most of the explanations are correct and to the point.
Overall the Maths tests are amazing and the English tests are good. I strongly recommend writing the GMATClub tests before appearing for the main exam.
Good luck :)
First of all, I would like to thank you for the the pretty good platform you offer. I found GMAT club quant questions the most similar to those questions you see on the GMAT exam.
However, I think you could improve some points:
1. It's not possible to review a list of questions you that you have previously settled the filter without go back to the entire list. The simpler way would be move forward from one question to another (in the filtered list) without to go back to the entire list.
2. Once you repeat the question, the question will count more than one time on your performance and also on the question analysis. I think it would be simpler if those questions tried more than one time remained only one time, the last one.
3. Verbal Session could have a greater bank of questions.
Thank you,
Fabiana
- Scoring pattern seems to be flawed. It takes into account the questions which we answer after the 75 minute deadline in the study mode. For example, score from case 1 will be lower than case 2 in these tests which will not be trues in actual exam
Case 1: 37 questions (21 correct and 16 incorrect) in 75 minutes
Case 2: 31 questions (15 correct and 16 incorrect) and if I correctly mark the remaining 6 questions which I was not able to do in 75 minute deadline
- I would love to learn about the rationale for having 3x quant tests compared to verbal. It will be great to have more verbal tests in the compendium
Dear all,
I would like to say that GMAT Club can make you aware about your real performance in Quant section especially. The Quant Pool has provided the realest collection of questions that no course has ever provided. The Quant tests are tricky and helpful especially for who is targeting 48-51. The question bank is broad and covers all the principles and topics. The explanations provided with answers are concise and of good quality.
Although the interface of tests resembles to the actual GMAT test, I think some quality enhancements are needed in the software.
All in all, if you want to be skilled in Quant Section ...do not skip Gmat club tests.
The GMATCLUB tests are good. First lets talk about the good things :-
The tests, specially the Quant Ones, I personally feel help you to expand your horizon of Quant thinking. After solving quite a many official problems, I can say that the Quant Problems have a falvour of their own which indeed help you to stretch your “Quant” Muscles which is a good thing one way.
Secondly, the scoring algorithm is quite good. Though I found it out to behave slightly differently in some cases. It gives you a healthy mix of 500/600/700 Level problems to test your expertise at all these levels.
The diagnostics/reporting is quite good ( not excellent… more on it later) it helps you see which problems you got wrong & how other GMATCLubbers have performed on that question. So it helps ypu to do a decent analysis of your performance.
But from my experience there are few things that can be further improved:-
1. Scoring Algorithm :- The Scoring Algorithm is quite good but there is still some gap that can be optimised compared to the GMATPrep Algorithm. Also It seems to me ( my personal opinion though), for the same number of incorrect questions, the GMATPrep softwares would have provided a lower score comared to what GMATClub offers. I might be wrong, but then again this is what I felt like.
2. Diagnostics :- This is an area I feel a there is a big scope for improvement. After every test, it can be an option which provides deeper analysis of the candidates mistakes. To be more specific, if it provides content/topic specific classification. If it helps the candidates to identify in which topics they’re making more mistakes, and if they can present it in a nice graphic form, it would be much more helpful for the candidate to find out the weak areas on which they can work upon. Similarly, similar graphics can be provided for strength areas. So that after picking a few of these tests, candidates can be made quite aware of their strengths and weaknesses. This I believe will go a long way candidates to improve the score.
But all in all, it is perhaps one of the best mock test out there. Great work you guys.
