Biggest Source of Fresh Questions

REVIEWER IDENTITY VERIFIED by membership [?]

Hi

I am using GMAT club tests as the practice questions, as I have already got a number of CATs from other companies.

This biggest benefit of subscribing to GMAT Club tests was a huge pool of good quality fresh questions available for practice. Fresh questions means that you will not see those questions in your CATs, hence your CATs will provide a true score for your level.

Secondly, you get a lot of 700 level questions, especially for Quant, and each question makes you focus on a different area.

However, the explanations of the problems (especially quantitative) are sometimes overly brief. They are great for those who already know how to solve the problem, good for those who were near to the solution and somewhat too short for those who were far from the solution.

In the end, I seriously think that GMAT Club tests provide you the biggest database of questions to practice. I am taking my GMAT next month, and I am hopeful that these test will contribute in my success of cracking thee exam.

Great

REVIEWER IDENTITY VERIFIED by school email address [?]

The GMAT club tests are great, they are better than the practice tests from a few different sources. Each question comes with detailed explanation on the answer and with statistics on how everyone did. This helps to give you, the test taker, a good perspective on how you are doing compared to others. In addition, the quiz component is excellent! It allows you to drill into different topics and sections that you want more practice. Overall, the entire format, the look and feel, is like that of the real test. This helps to allow you to be familiar with the actual test. Overall, I highly recommend using the GMAT club tests. Only thing - I hope that GMAT club will put in more verbal questions!

Quant is the best. Verbal not sure.

REVIEWER IDENTITY VERIFIED by post count [?]

Quant questions in gmat club tests are the best out there. It is much more trickier than any other test co out there and GMAT tests tricky queations. Interface and the explanations are awesome. Thanks Bunuel. 4 stars for Quant. (-1 star for Verbal) I did not attempt much of verbal so cannot comment on that. Once I do attempt more questions to get an insight, I may come back and change my reviews too. I am still using the tests and as per my experience they are definitely is helpful. I will edit this review once I get my score.

Review GMAT Club Tests

REVIEWER IDENTITY VERIFIED by membership [?]

Hi GMAT-Club Team,
For having use your product since more than 2 years, here are my feelings about things that could be improved :
[1] Exam algorithm : I think the tests are not adaptive, since even when doing well we sometime still get 500 level questions.
[2] Exam Score : I have no understanding on how the exam is scored when ended with some questions left. The variance is huge.
[3] Verbal part : While on the quant part there is considerable quantity of questions/CATs, on the verbal part there is a need of alignment in term of proportion to the quant part.
Very good job mean while!!!

Worked for me, but wouldn't recommend for all

REVIEWER IDENTITY VERIFIED by school email address [?]

THE GOOD:
(1) lots of practice in quant- most are difficult questions. My weakest math is algebra (I usually plug in numbers), a lot of these questions are high yield (algebra and inequalities) where plugging in numbers won't work
(2) test mode - even though some of these questions are available else where, it's hard to click each link and read questions and answer. these tests provide the questions in a testing situation.

THE BAD:
(1) lack of discussion - most questions (unlike the forum) have few discussions and the discussions are often left unanswered. there was a post form 5 months ago and I had the same question and no one answered it :(
really expected admins and mods to put their priority in the paid tests forums and answer questions.
(2) questions found else where - a lot of these questions are found else where as retired or other questions. seems like they just slapped as many questions as they could, just to say look we have "insert big number here" questions
(3) less is more - carrying on from above, I would of liked a lot of the questions filtered. a few quant and a lot of verbal had bad questions. also, there was several questions that tested the same thing (for example the number 0 is divisible by every number)

AND THE DOWN RIGHT UGLY:
Verbal, verbal, and verbal - section was, for a lack of a better word, useless. I think they just slapped together some questions. Unlike quant, most answers are not thoroughly. Reading I didn't think was too difficult or had many bad questions. The grammar was big hit/miss - some were good questions, some were bad questions. The CR was just horrible. I think you are lowering your CR score by even bothering with these. I did the Manhattan and one GMAT official book and in both books I get more than 95% of the CR correct, however on these tests it's 70% or maybe even less. In my opinion the verbal (especially CR) is opinion based. Unlike the quant where even if the question is a hard question, there is a right answer. Here, I did poorly on the CR not because the questions were difficult but because the questions were not clear and concise. The goal of each CR question is to have the group of test takers answer 60-80% of each question correct. If it's over 80% than ditch the question because it's too easy. If it's below 60% than ditch the question because it's not clear and it's confusing. Basically, there are "traps" in quant to where I think if less than 50% or even less than 20% of people get a question right, than that's fine as the quant section has only one right answer. But, here they are trying to put "traps" in the CR section which in my opinion shouldn't have traps.

All in All...I think the tests were designed especially for me. They contain a ton of quant, most of which are algebra and inequalities where plugging in number's won't work. I am definitely 100% happy with my purchase. But, this may not be for you. If you are strong in algebra (setting up equations and not plugging in numbers) or if you are looking for verbal help, than I'd look elsewhere.

Just a quick note that based on your posts, I cannot find where you posted any questions about the GMAT Club Tests. I only found one post: http://gmatclub.com/forum/m05-183689.html#p1580325

Did you see the link included in the explanation of each question to the discussions? Bunuel and other regularly participate in the GMAT Club tests forum discussions - let me know if I missed anything.

Best tests to improve your Quant score.

REVIEWER IDENTITY VERIFIED by score report [?]

One test a day ...for 26 days and you will surely reach the score of 50.It has amazing analytics to gauge your strengths and weaknesses . Review each and every question and make your own quizzes for the weak areas. After the end of 1500 questions I felt much more confident in Quant . There was a lot of improvement in DS , my weak area as the test covered each and every type of questions .The questions are close in what the actual GMAT asks .It was surely worth every penny spent. Go ahead and master your quantitative skills. All the best for your GMAT.

Adaptive Tests

REVIEWER IDENTITY VERIFIED by membership [?]

Are the CAT Test at GMAT Club really adaptive? Asfar as I can say the results differ significantly from the results I got at GMAT prep. Moreover you should create a whole CAT Exam not only two seperate sections. Some explanations are bad and just repeat the answer choice. You should work on that to ensure a similar solution path in similar problems. Additionally some problems at CR are ambigious (a problem I have never experienced within the real GMAT).

Rest is very good and I am happy to used GMAT Club Test as a preperation tool! Thanks for helping me tood get my dream result!

Club Tests bring in the best of you

REVIEWER IDENTITY VERIFIED by score report [?]

First leg of preparation:
When I started my preparation for GMAT, I never new about gmat club and any of its products. I prepared with all book materials and scored a 460 in Gmat prep exam. My quant score was in 30's and verbal score was below 20. I used all the standardized book materials such as Manhattan, Princeton etc. I was never able to practice gmat like questions. It seemed very much different from the gmat exam questions and the questions from these materials.

Second Leg of Preparation:
I came to know about about gmat club through one of my colleague. The best thing I would suggest anyone is to prepare GMAT by interacting with various peers. This dint happen to me in the first leg of preparation. But after subscribing to gmat club I was able to interact with many peers around the globe. On the practice part I would again insist to enroll in standardized tests which would accurately measure your progress and lay foundation for Mock exams.
This further kindled me to enroll to GMAT club tests.

GMAT Club Tests:
They provide a large number of quant tests which is highest in all. Quant questions are very standardized and they make you work hard for the answers. I believe some of the questions are prepared by Bunnel (a Math Genius). If anyone could follow his posts and materials, it would give all the ground work need for the club tests.
The verbal tests are also as standard as the quant one but I would rate the Quant more than the Verbal. These tests actually bring in the best of you. The level of the questions exactly match the ones in GMAT prep and GMAT exams.

I used these tests to improve my Mock test scores. Finally I was able to improve my score from 460 to 570. My quant score improved from 32 to 42 and Verbal score improved from 19 to 26. While this might not be a good score amidst the 700+ scorers in gmat club, I value this as a good improvement. I am still in preparation mode with an aim to score 700. I am sure I will get it one day.
I wish to thanks BB and gmat club for their product. Without Gmat club test I could not have come this far.
This is not a debrief but a review of GMAT club tests. I would definitely would post a debrief after coming to the 700+ league.

GMATCLUB Tests-Quant all the way!

REVIEWER IDENTITY VERIFIED by score report [?]

I got GMATCLUB tests by paying for the 6 month subscription back in 2014 but then I had to extend the subscription for 50% off (due to premium membership) as I had to push out my GMAT plans for 6-8 months later. I think everyone considers Bunuel one of the best GMAT Quant experts if not the best one. He has compiled some quality questions in both his signature collections and the GMATCLUB tests.

Pros:

1. Excellent source for targeted practice (by difficulty level or by topic/sub-topic).
2. Useful to review questions that you got incorrect or spent too much time on.
3. Ability to select just quant or verbal separately to evaluate if you manage your time well for 37 or 41 questions in 1 practice session.
4. Ability to select number of questions in a given practice session, timed/untimed.
5. Interface is very similar to what you will get in actual GMAT. This familiarity to the interface is a very important aspect of training yourself for the real thing.
6. Interface for the practice/mock CAT gives you the same options that you get in GMATPREP (pause the exam if you want to, same shortcuts applicable as those in the GMATPREP software etc.)
7. Great number of questions for both verbal and quant.
8. Great pricing and collection of perks that you get with GMATCLUB test subscriptions.

Cons:

1. Although @bb and @bunuel have gotten the algorithm tweaked a few times, but I felt that the algorithm wasn't really adaptive when I chose to go for quant only CATs. I saw majority of the questions (sometimes 34-35 out of 37 as 700+ level questions). IMHO, GMAT throws a lot more of the other difficulty levels to come up with the correct sectional score.
2. Verbal for GMATCLUB tests still lacks good quality questions and as such I stayed away from the verbal questions in the GMATCLUB tests.

Thank you for your review - I feel you have taken the tests a little while ago (perhaps pre Sept 2015?) Algorithm was updated to provide for a greater variety of difficulties (creating more paranoia and emulating the concept of experimental GMAT questions). This works both ways - those who score high still get easy questions and those who score low, still get hard questions. I know it is diabolical, but I can't help it :-)

GMAT Club Test

REVIEWER IDENTITY VERIFIED by post count [?]

GMAT Club test are a must for the quant prep. One must attempt at least 15 quant tests here before one plans to give their actual GMAT exam.

Though the scoring pattern is not accurate. One should gauze their performance by the number of correct attempts.

Just to make it a little better, the test should also reciprocate the actual GMAT style questions because some of the questions that the exam throws are way "not like GMAT" (IMO).

The analytics part of the exam should also improve. It doesnt show case ares of improvement or otherwise.

Be relaxed with the scoring as it might hep in boosting the confidence of the students by seeing a better score but that doesnt mean to inflate anyone's ability.
