Rich,
Thanks for your reply. Below are answers to your questions.
1) How long have you been studying? I have been studying for a little over 3 months, though it took me until the end of June to feel remotely comfortable with foundational material. My
Manhattan Prep course experience was OK (end of May to early July), but I ended up being the most advanced person in the class, (which obviously isn't saying much), so I did not learn from other students as much as I hoped I would have. I felt like I was behind the whole time as well, and in some of the class sessions I struggled to understand basic concepts.
2) CATs are below
Kaplan:
Test 1 (end of july): 610 64th percentile (Q40 47th percentile / V34 71st percentile) IR 2
Test 2 (beginning of August): 620 67th percentile (Q41 49th percentile / V34 71st percentile) IR 2
Manhattan Prep:
Test 1 (July 28th): 590 58th (Q36 36th% / V34 71%) IR 1
Test 2 (August 22): 650 77th% (Q38 41st% / V40 91%) IR 3
Test 3 (August 30): 640 72nd% (Q40 47% / V37 83%) IR 3
GMAT Club:
Quant Test (August 23rd): Q44 62%
GMAT:
September 3: 640 71% (Q38 40%/ V40 91%)
3) When are you planning to apply to Business School? I do not have a set timeline. I was hoping within the next two years, give or take, to apply, with my current work situation (being assigned overseas) being the driving factor behind the timeline. I am starting language school for work this week, which involves near-immersion type classes, so my study time for GMAT will be greatly reduced over the next few months, unfortunately. That is why I wanted to try to hit it as quickly as possible.
4) Do you have the flexibility to push back your Test Date (even if it's just a few weeks)? I do have that option. However, I am afraid I will start losing whatever "edge" I had though, as studying a new language will start to take up more of my time. Over the summer, I could devote at least 3 hours per day to study. Now, hopefully I will get 2 hours per day. So my plan was to continue to take the GMAT on September 26th, then take it again in the early winter. That said, I am open to suggestions on pushing it back, and rescheduling in order to 1. Save some money on a test. 2. Hopefully get a better score without wasting a Saturday morning. 3. Absolutely OWNING and DESTROYING the quant section.
Thank you again, and any advice you can provide will be utilized.
