HI Yeti,

Your CAT scores and your Official GMAT Score are 'clustered', which means that you're consistent in the things that you do correctly, but equally consistent in the silly/little mistakes that you make. As such, you'll likely score in the same general 'range' (low-600s) if you take the GMAT in just over 2 weeks. If you could squeeze out just a little more study time (say, 2 more weeks on top of the time that you currently have), then there is a plan that I could recommend to you.

Rich,

Thanks again. I decided to maintain my Sept 26th exam, but will be scheduling an exam for December 5 or 12th. ( Saturdays fill up pretty far ahead of time here).
The rescheduling fee is kind of a sticking point for me, and I am of the perspective that I'll see what if i can jump up again at least a little bit, this go around, and work on a strategic/operational plan for the December event. Again, complicating matters is the start of my language program, so I need to invest time into that as well.

Let me know your thoughts.

Hi Yeti,

I'm not exactly sure what you mean when you say that the rescheduling fee is a 'sticking point' for you, especially if you're actively looking to schedule another Test Date in December anyway. Can you explain that in a bit more detail?

My reasoning for doing both is this: I just can't say for 100% certainty right now that I will be able to maintain the level of study I think I need until the beginning of December.
So I'd like to try and grab a few more points if I can right now, so in the event I feel the need to totally cancel December, I can still apply to some of my target schools the following fall if I so choose.
With work, I just am unsure of my free time a lot, and I am afraid of losing any "gains" that I have made this past summer.

Does that make more sense?

Thanks.

Hi Yeti,

Yes, what you're describing is clear. With these last 2 weeks, you don't have time to make any big changes to how you handle the Test, but you can work on your 'mechanics' (the note-taking and 'steps' that you go through when dealing with Quant questions). With a Q38, you're making lots of little mistakes - if you can categorize the types of mistakes (not enough notes, missed details, math errors, etc., then you might be able to eliminate enough of them to push your score up (and get to 700+ territory). Making those adjustments could be challenging though, since you've been working a certain way for so long.

If you plan to take another FULL-LENGTH CAT sometime soon (this weekend?), then you should report back here with your scores and we can talk through how you're working.

I plan on taking a CAT sunday morning. I will report back.

I have definitely improved in math errors, as I've focused on it, but I agree I need to work on note taking in PS, as well missing details. I tend to read very quickly, and forget important parts a lot. I will make notes after I finish.

Thanks
