(I) If there is a negative power, then we can remove the negative sign by taking the reciprocal of the term.
\(10^{-3} - 10^{-6}=\frac{1}{10^3}-\frac{1}{10^6}=\frac{1}{10^3}(1-\frac{1}{10^3})=\frac{1}{10^3}(1-\frac{1}{10^3})=\frac{1}{10^3}(\frac{10^3-1}{10^3})\)
\(\frac{1}{10^3}(\frac{999}{10^3})=\frac{999}{10^6}=0.000999\)
(II) If you are comfortable with decimals, convert the expression in decimals.( Prone to errors normally)
\(10^{-3} - 10^{-6}=0.001-0.000001 = 0.000999\)
(III) Use options.
We are subtracting something from \(10^{-3}\) or 0.001, so answer has to be LESS than 0.001
Only A and B are left.
A has only 4 decimal points, whereas we are subtracting a term with 6 decimal points.
