Hi All,

I will have 2.5 years experience when I apply this year for the fall 2019 session.
I know a lot of MBA colleges do not even consider applicants with this much work experience.
But I don't want to wait another year to get more experience.
So, considering I'll have 3 years work ex when joining, which MBA colleges can I realistically apply where I may get accepted?

Considering GMAT score:720
Work ex: 2.5
CGPA:8.3
Overall good profile for Indian female IT engineer and worked in the Consumer Goods, Products and Marketing industry.

Thanks in advance. :-)

It depends. Many folks get in with less experience. But considering you will be one of younger people in the class they would question the leadership experience.

With GMAT score of 720, you have chances at top-10 to 20 schools. But any M7, you need to prove the leadership skill with less experience. GMAT above 730 or 740 would be the best bet!

Since you are Indian- Look into ISB, they tend to accept a lot of people with less experience.

Hi, Many b-schools looks for candidate with minimum of 2 years of experience, as the quality of experience matters than the tenurity.
If you are willing to applying for top 10 to 15 B-Schools, then you should definetly consider retaking GMAT and improve for 20-30 points to increase your chances of getting admit.

While assessing your application, top b-schoolslooks for people who have demonstrated leadership qualities in their professional or personal lives. Leadership qualities don’t necessarily mean leading teams – they could also mean the initiatives you had taken, your achievements, impact-orientation and career progression.

Please free to reach us out on +91 9980044412 for free profile evaluation from top b-schools alumni like INSEAD, Wharton, Tuck

Hi ArunimaChoudhury,

Assuming you have a good profile with decent leadership experience and achievements, you stand a chance in the top 15. Of course, a lot will depend on your essays, recommendations, and portrayal of career goals. In case you are aiming for something in the top 10, you definitely need to boost up your score to at least a 750.

We did help a software professional with the same GMAT score and only a year of work experience make it to a top 12 program this year. Hence, in case you feel the need for a detailed profile evaluation, do reach out to us.

All the best! :)

I can only echo the others here: it’s not so much about the time, as 2 years usually the minimum work experience required, but about what you have done during these 2.5 years. Did you manage others in any capacity? Were you promoted? Etc.

So therefore, I feel it’s really hard to answer this without having all the details about that work experience. If you’d like us to evaluate your profile with all the facts in mind, feel free to tell us more about that work experience here: https://aringo.com/mba-process-registration/ and we will get back to you with a more thorough response.
