2 months to go: my study plan. Need help with correction [#permalink]
SajjadAhmad thank you. I already decided which courses I will take.

EMPOWERgmatRichC
Studies:
1) How long have you studied?
I studied just verbal for about 3 months. Then, for some reasons, I paused my preparation for 3 months and started again, from Quant. I spent about 3 months to learn all Quant concepts and now my score is about 48-49. I need to freshen up my verbal skills.

2) What study materials have you used so far?
Official guide, e-gmat, MGMAT, Kaplan, GmatClub

3) How have you scored on EACH of your CATs (including the Quant and Verbal Scaled Scores for EACH)?
Quant is about 47-49 and Verbal is about 26-29 (I will definitely improve my verbal).

Goals:
4) When are you planning to apply to Business School?
Hopefully, in August
5) What Schools are you planning to apply to?
Harvard, Stanford, Wharton, Columbia, Chicago, Stern

Hi Terabyte,

I didn't ask for the 'range' of your Quant and Verbal Scaled Scores. I asked how you scored on EACH individual Exam (with the Quant and Verbal Scaled Scores for each). Since you've now included information that your studies were inconsistent, I have some additional questions about your CATs:

1) How did you score on EACH individual Exam (with the Quant and Verbal Scaled Scores for each)?
2) Did you take the ENTIRE CAT each time (including the Essay and IR sections)?
3) Did you take them at home?
4) Did you take them at the same time of day as when you plan to take your Official GMAT?
5) Did you ever do ANYTHING during your CATs that you couldn't do on Test Day (pause the CAT, skip sections, take longer breaks, etc.)?
6) Did you ever take a CAT more than once? Had you seen any of the questions BEFORE?

Hi EMPOWERgmatRichC,

What do you mean by EACH individual exam?
I tried GmatClub tests and my best Quant score was 49/51.
I tried PrincetonReview verbal exam and by best score was 29/51

2) Did you take the ENTIRE CAT each time (including the Essay and IR sections)?
No. I saved my CATs for last 2 months of preparation. Planning to buy VeritasPrep and MGMAT CATs (13 total) and 2 GMATPrep CATs from mba.com

3) Did you take them at home?
I took separately Quant and Verbal CATs in my city's library

4) Did you take them at the same time of day as when you plan to take your Official GMAT?
No. Usually in evenings

5) Did you ever do ANYTHING during your CATs that you couldn't do on Test Day (pause the CAT, skip sections, take longer breaks, etc.)?
Yes, I did.

6) Did you ever take a CAT more than once? Had you seen any of the questions BEFORE?
Nope

Hi Terabyte,

From your last post, I have to assume that you have not taken any FULL-LENGTH CATs (with the Essay and IR sections) yet. If that's the case, then you MUST take one soon (perhaps this weekend). We need a measure of your skills right now - including your skills, strengths and weaknesses - so that we can put together the proper study plan for you. A FULL CAT takes about 4 hours to complete, so make sure that you've set aside enough time to take it in one sitting. Once you have those scores, you should report back here and we can discuss how best to proceed.

Hi, EMPOWERgmatRichC

My MGMAT CAT score is 650.

1. Quant: 45 (surprised, since my GMATClub scores are about 47-48)
2. Verbal: 34 (also surprised. I was thinking that I have a lower score).

If MGMAT CAT is accurate, I'm happy with my verbal score, but aiming for 36 now. And I'm not happy at all with my Quant score. I'm sure that I can get Q48 on the real test. Will be working on my weak areas

Hi Terabyte,

You stated in a prior post that your score goal is 650 - and assuming that you took this CAT in a realistic fashion, then you appear to be in position to hit that goal. As such, it would certainly make sense for you to continue to study as you have been (and take FULL-LENGTH CATs at regular intervals going forward).

Hi, EMPOWERgmatRichC

Thank you. I think that my new goal is 680 (Q48, V35). Need to improve my quantitative section

Hi Terabyte,

Statistically-speaking, a 680 isn't that much different from a 650 - so you should continue studying as you have been. Some extra review of this CAT (with the goal of defining WHY you got questions wrong) would likely be valuable.
