Still in Galapagos, so writing briefly while stuck at an airport.... I can appreciate the concept, but has anyone validated that there are actually people willing to share their essays to the world from 07 ?

Well, we have sent off PMs to 2007ers to see if they will be willing to share essays. We were waiting for you to get back before sending a note.

We will have to see how this turns out. If you have any questions about this, let us know.

If 07 does not work out, we will try this again in 08.

3 points

1. River - a person has spending 8 months here neednt necessarily have any more integrity than one who joined 2 days ago

2. I like the idea an I'll give my essays (obily after getting through an after thorough cleansing)

3. I am now a manager......so does that mean I get to delegate the task of writing my essays to some worker ant?? I'll grudgingly do the QC

IMHO

On the one hand, the beauty of GMATClub is that it's a community with a common goal, where all (at least most of the participating) members contribute in a supportive environment.

I feel I've benefitted greatly and I freely give out advice based on my successful interactions here.

The stuff should be free.

On the other hand, the essays are intensely personal and I wouldn't want my essays on a public forum. Just go buy a book of successful essays.

rhyme: nope, still pm-ing... so far no luck.

as Praet said, it's OK if we don't get any this year, since we started so late. It'll be good if we can get the current crop to think about it and contribute later.

kidderek: The problem with the "book of essays" is that a lot of them are old, meaning they're like 1000-2000 words OVER the word limits that schools use now. Also a lot of them are supermen/women, which doesn't really help people like me learn how to "sell" yourself if you don't have those spectacular extracurriculars.

to riverripper or anyone else: Would the schools expel or punish someone for *being* plagiarized? If so, how come there are essay books out there, some even with names and most with schools and personal info in those essays?

There are so many essays out on the net that its not even a joke. Just type business school essays on google and do some filtering, and voila!!..

kryzak has a great point here - if its plagiarism, how come there are so many essays with school and people names floating all over.

I do not think we will get positive responses until end of year. I believe most of us 08 ers will post essays, for schools where we did not get admitted, for future help.

The debate will continue on who gets access for a while, but given that the forum has no essays at the moment, its better we keep on working on our own essays........

There are several issues that need to be looked at. This is very normal and healthy. We can be pessimistic or we can give it a try and see how it goes. The first big test of this idea is whether the current members of the forum can pass their essays along to others in 08.

So, you guys need to stop worrying about this for your 08 admits. Focus on your essays and we hope you will contribute your work for the 09 applicants.
