April 6th is the last date for deposit for accepted students. If anyone does not take the acceptance, you will be considered for the spot. Sloan will give out decisions April 4th for R2. From what you quoted, you have to notify LGO that you are still interested so that when seats are available, you will be considered.

Hi everybody,
I still haven't gotten my decision letter so I sent an email to the admissions today. They replied very fast with the decision. I got waitlisted... Does someone here know what are the chances? What was the statistics last years? Can I submit additional materials to LGO? If I accept the place in LGO's waitlist, does it exclude me from being considered for Sloan R2 or I shall remain under consideration for both programs? LGO is my #1 choice, yet I don't want to be left with nothing if the chances of going into LGO are very slim...
Any input would be greatly appreciated!!!
Here is the letter from Don Rosenfield:
Dear Mr. XXX,
Thank you for your interest in joining the MIT Leaders for Global Operations (LGO) program. Based on our
careful consideration of each application, we believe that you would be a strong member for the Class of 2013.
Although we are unable to offer you a position in the class at this time, we have selected you for our waitlist.
Your application continues to be under consideration for the MIT Sloan MBA program. Your MIT Sloan MBA
decision will be available on April 4, 2011.
We encourage you to e-mail Jane Deutsch ([email protected]), Director of Admissions and Career Development,
if you would like to indicate continued interest in LGO. If space becomes available, we will admit additional
applicants to LGO by the end of April. We look forward to hearing from you.
Sincerely,
Donald B. Rosenfield

Thank you babyif19 for your answer. Do you know whether I am allowed to submit additional material to LGO during the waiting period? Thanks again.

Hello MBA Specialist,

Congrats on your waitlist status! I think you should send an email to the LGO office with your specific questions. It may be better for you to stay on their minds just enough. Sending any updates to your application such as promotions or any accomplishments will only help you imo.

For sure not all LGO admits will accept. I'm not sure how many are on the waitlist though. Maybe you can also ask the LGO office how waitlisted candidates are evaluated. They may or may not tell you.

All the best!

Hi all,

I'm thinking of applying to the LGO program next year. Does anyone have an idea about what the acceptance rate is? Is it on par with Sloan or is it more competitive?

Thanks ;)

Hi bseb,

Typically the acceptance rate for LGO has been higher than that of Sloan, but it's difficult to compare the two. The application pool for LGO is much smaller and specialized (engineering background, interest in operations, desire to pursue the two degrees, etc.) so it's impossible to say which is more competitive.

If you have any other questions as you look into the program, feel free to post them here.

Thanks for your answer ;) It seems like a really good program. My only concern would be to only have job opportunities located in very industrial areas.

Anybody has any idea about what happens to the LGO applicants under consideration at Sloan R2? do they really pick up people from this pool of rejects at LGO or its just a formality?

Hope its the former but fear its the latter. Has anyone not interviewed for LGO recieved an interview for Sloan R2?

I do recall when I was googling LGO, that I stumbled upon some Sloan student blogs, and one of them indicated that he had applied through the LGO, and was later accepted by Sloan. No LGO for him, but he's a happy Sloanie right now.

Take it for what it's worth. I think it is just as the description says, all of the applications will be reviewed for Sloan, and it's not just a polite formality.

Just got back into the country from vacation and found out I'm accepted! I seriously can't believe it!

I'm attending Open House this week but not staying for the weekend. For the people that have been accepted, are you definitely attending? Any outstanding reservations or decisions yet to be made? Does anyone have an SO that makes the decision less straight forward?

I'm looking forward to meeting the folks traveling to Boston this week!

Best,
Ashleigh

Hi all,

I signed up as a current student to start the thread for the 2012 incoming class. Apparently, I have to have 5 posts before I can create my own thread, so I'm just going to spam this one for a while to get my GMATClub "street cred" up to snuff.

Sorry if anybody is getting annoying automatic notifications as a result!
