I got into CBS about a week and a half ago and I have a comment and question:
1) I have been able to focus at work far more now than before I was admitted. The month-long application process was painful and stressful for me and I found myself unable to concentrate at work. Because we still have 9 months until school, I've been able to concentrate on work.
2) Does anyone know generally what the geographic cut-off is for getting on campus housing? I know New Yorkers can't get it, but what about people from other parts of the US? What about Canada/Mexico? Europe? South America? Any insight would be appreciated!

I spoke to the admin office and they said it mostly goes to internationals (outside of the U.S.).

It was a happy hour at the Columbia Club. Had the chance to mingle witha bunch of future classmates, but there wasn't really a structure or anything. Good time though.

One of the admissions directors said the Columbia Connect Events in Feb/April would have more to it - sit in on a class, seminars, presentations, etc. followed by a cocktail hour

Are there any other international students going through the to-do list (visas, housing, etc.)? I'm Canadian but I guess that still puts me in the international category.

Thanks! I was looking through the housing options yesterday, it seems like international students with spouses or children have the best pick! Hoping to at least avoid the dormitory-style options...

I have a question. Anybody knows how much difference there is between a monthly free rent and the rent for Columbia apartments? For example, for a one-bedroom apartment.

Another question, will my partner be consider by Columbia -in terms of housing- if we are not married?

I am currently based in Singapore and just wonder if any of you have some ideas on the earliest check in date if I could live in the house that UAH offers. I am thinking to go to NYC like the end of July and not sure whether I can check in that early...

Hello! Glad to join you guys on this thread. I was wondering if any of you have information on the scholarship options at CBS. I know there is no additional application for the merit scholarship consideration but has any of you heard about the criteria or how much is usually awarded to what %age of students?
