I think #1 last year was HBS, but Stanford took over this year.

Actually last year was a tie for #1 between Stanford and Harvard.

25% of this ranking is deans from all the polled schools raknings....thats a stupid thing to judge a school by and to give it the most weight...even stupider.

Man those GMAT scores in the top schools are getting ridiculous.

People need to take rankings for what they are: a "scratch the surface" analysis of b schools. It is a good guide to help you narrow down the level of school you should be applying, but so would an excel chart listing GMAT/GPA/WE of the top 100 in descending order.

Yeah those GMAT scores are pretty high. In the top 11, you don't have a single school with a GMAT average under 700. It used to be that 700 was the benchmark but those score keep creeping up. Does that speak to the increased competitiveness of the applicant pool? From GMAC, the distribution of scores still is relatively consistent so you're talking about the top 3-5% of GMAT test takers here who on average are filling up these schools.

High GMAT scores probably point more towards the test being more predictable now, especially with all the study material and courses.

Also, taken from the bw forum, how schools are viewed by peer schools and by recruiters.

Ranking by Peer Assessment (i.e. "general consensus" or "popular perception of which schools are best overall"):

1. Harvard, Stanford, Wharton - 4.8
4. Booth, Kellogg, MIT - 4.7
7. Haas - 4.5
8. Columbia - 4.4
9. Duke, Ross - 4.3
11. Tuck - 4.2
12. Cornell, Stern, UCLA, Yale - 4.1
16. Darden - 4.0

Ranking by Recruiter Assessment (i.e. "student quality", or "selectivity", or "recruiters putting their money where their mouth is"):

1. Stanford - 4.6
2. Harvard, Kellogg, Wharton - 4.5
5. Booth, MIT - 4.4
7. Columbia - 4.3
8. Tuck - 4.2
9. Duke, Cornell, Darden, Haas - 4.1
13. Ross, Stern, Yale - 4.0
16. UCLA - 3.9

I was assuming it would come with the paid 20 dollar access to the US news?

^^^ yea citation needed....I've seen something like that but couldn't find it quickly.

USNEWS doesn't release index numbers for schools so we cat tell how far apart a school is from another.

All hat comes with the paid subscription is more detailed stuff such as: employment numbers, gpa/gmat range, application numbers etc. Nothing you can ind on the schools webpage.

Guy that posted on BW says it requires premium subscription, would be interesting to see, but I'm not sure $20 interesting.

why is the % employed at graduation so low? the top 10 only has about 75% employed at graduation. that's a big gamble for ~100k tuition imo.

No not only 100k tuition, but also risking losing your good paying job for 2 years. So opportunity cost close to 300k or possibly more for some.....

I wish I had an opportunity cost of 300k....

but yes, the employment percentage is a bit lower than I expected, but I doubt it's going to deter anyone from giving it a try.

Not necessary that the other 25% don't have job offers - they may not have picked one yet or are considering other alternatives - its hard to read in to the figure without knowing the details of how its calculated and who's excluded.
