The plan you're describing would likely only 'work' at that one Program AND only if the Program Director keeps his/her word. Before you decide whether to go through with this or not, it's important to consider the other Programs that you plan to apply to.
1) What are the Average GMAT Scores at each of the OTHER Programs?
2) How do you suppose your 560 compares at each of those Programs? Would you need a higher Score to be competitive at any of them?
3) Are you interested in Scholarship money (and if so, then what GMAT Score would be required for a Scholarship?)?
Assuming that everything you've described is accurate, then your plan makes a certain amount of sense. The fact that your Quant Score did NOT improve though, even after the focus you put on Quant before your second attempt, is clearly something that needs to be addressed. You might need to invest in some new resources and learn/practice some new Tactics.

Hello Rich,
I only have two graduated school programs in mind, and the average for one of them is a 550-580, and the average for my first choice is unclear. However, it appears if you have a 600+ and meet the other requirements, they offer you acceptance. I have spoken with both admission directors and have been told the score I received today is fine for my backup school, and I'm pretty confident that a combined score of 600+ is fine for my first choice. Also I am more interested in getting into the school than scholarship money at this point.
I'm currently studying with Manhattan Prep books, 5th edition, and the OG16 with the Math & Verbal review 2015. I've purchased the Magoosh premium online bundle, but haven't looked at anything. For the Manhattan books, I've taken notes for 90% of the chapters and got through about half of the OG Quant & DS problems. I'm most likely going to retake the test in February and focus heavily on quant. Are there any books you suggest I buy to improve my quant score? I need to go from a Q33 to around Q40 or higher, and I'm willing to purchase new study material.

Hi BrandonBlah,
Since your Quant Scaled Scores on your two Official GMATs were identical, I would NOT recommend that you study primarily from books (so there aren't any additional books that I would suggest to you). Some of your issues might be knowledge-based (do you know the formulas, math rules, patterns, etc.) or 'mechanical' (can you do the math correctly and efficiently), but I think that there's a big 'Tactical' issue that you've never focused on during your prior study attempts. That all having been said, you might already have the materials that you need to succeed ...but you might not.
1) How were you scoring on your CATs before this recent attempt at the GMAT (including the Quant and Verbal Scaled Scores)?
2) What is the latest that you could retake the GMAT and still make the application deadlines?
