Hello Everyone!
Attempt 1I had attempted GMAT in Jan 2020 and got a 660(qa-47, va- 34). I was quite disappointed as my official mocks were hovering around 710-720. Due to work commitments i was not able to attempt the exam right away.
Attempt 2Several months later, in November this year, after several long weeks of dedicated studies, I attempted the GMAT again, I scored a 690(qa-49, va-35, IR - 1). I was again disappointed as my official gmat mock scores were around 730-750 this time. I was not able to complete the quant section and left the last two questions.(this was due to poor time management in my last 5 minutes). Verbal was a huge concern as my SC scores were pulling me down.(ESR says - SC 57%, CR 85%, RC 85%)
Attempt 3So, clearly, my area of focus was SC,IR and improving my strengths in quant and verbal. I studied hard for the next two weeks and was able to see a huge improvement in my SC. I felt very confident about this new attempt as i went into the exam center. But ALAS, my score dropped to a 670 in my third attempt. (Qa- 48, VA- 35, IR - 6). (You would be surprised to hear that my last official gmat mock score was 750. I seem to have consistently done well in mocks but never in the actual exam. And in this attempt i was very cool and not nervous at all. I feel like i just had a bad day)
I have been extremely demotivated after this, despite studying for SC really hard(materials - OG and
e-gmat) my percentile in SC dropped from 57 to 47. My intention behind this 3rd attempt was to correct my IR score and improve/maintain by overall gmat score. While my IR has improved, my overall gmat score went down, so i cancelled the score.
So this has been my story. Currently, I have two more weeks for one final attempt that I am willing to put myself through. My aim in the final attempt(in 2 weeks) is simple -
1. My current score - 690 (qa - 49, va- 35, ir - 1, awa - 5). I want to improve this score to 700+ and correct my IR score. I believe low IR scores can be a red flag? Open to everyone's opinion here.
(I do believe I have the ability to score above 700, when i started off with GMAT practice, i was aiming for a score around 730 - which my mocks and practice tests indicate that I am capable of, but, after 3 attempts I will be happy if I could improve my score to atleast 710)
Any advice for the preparations for the next two weeks? Currently, I am planning on going over all OG SC questions and continuing to practice my strengths.
I have been going over the question bank posted here -
https://gmatclub.com/forum/the-most-com ... 40372.htmlI seem to get most correct, however, on exam day my SC is always bad. I do not undertand this.
Also, over my attempts my SC percentile has gone down - 72 - 57 - 47. The more i study, the worse I seem to perform in SC.
Question to everyone - My current score is 690(ir-1).After my next attempt at GMAT, if i were to get a score of 680 with a good IR score, should I accept this OVER my 690 score? If yes, would it hold true for a 670 too?
I am just trying to think of all possible outcomes of my next exam, because honestly, I have pretty much lost faith in getting a good score just because the official mocks give me a good result. I do not have the confidence anymore.
