Length of study: 5 months. Spent 3 months on all books/problems and 2 months on CATS.
For my 2nd test, I used all 8
MGMAT books along with all OG books. I can say the
MGMAT books definiately helped me achieve a much higher score than my 1st try. I know 120 point increase is very good, but it is not good enough for me. I want to apply to top 15 schools and I feel that I need 700+ to be competitive with my profile (26 male, asian american, 3.41 gpa, comp engineering, 4 yrs IT consultant). During test day, I felt very confident about my Q score, and the 48 is more or less what I expected, it is even along the lines of my CATs. I had about 2.5 minutes left for my final question, and that last question came straight out of
MGMAT, so I was able to answer it in 30 seconds, felt very good. Took my 8 minute break and ate a banana and drank some water

For Verbal, I was also feeling VERY confident. When I reached about question #31, I was getting excited/nervous to see my score because I was feeling good. I know I should not even remotely think about my score, but that's just where my mind was drifting towards. Even with all the anxiety and excitement in me, I was able to finish the last 10 questions with confidence. I was doing very good on time, maybe I was going too fast for my own good. I had about 4-5 minutes left for my final V question. However, after seeing the score, I was disappointed, especially in my verbal. During the practice CATs I took, I could usually predict how well I did. I felt that I had answered 80-90%+ correctly on my verbal, but apparently I did not. I really wish I could see what I got wrong!! I was baffled - not even sure where I screwed up exactly, whether it was rc, sc, or cr, I felt equal confidence in all areas. Also I JUST noticed a thread talking about SC changes, so I wonder if that affected me.
I plan to retake in 1-2 months. I was originally hoping to apply to Round 1s, but it doesn't seem realistic now and I would have to aim for Round 2. It looks like I need to really work on my Verbal and that's where I need advice on what other books I should use for both strategy and for problems. Also I will need different CATs since retaking
MGMAT/Prep will give me a biased score. I need some recommendations on how to improve 50+ points!!
Thanks for listening!
