Hi Everyone,
I started preparing for the GMAT in January 2017, and my appointment is on 4th April 2017. After scoring a 350 on my first Mock test i was really disappointed. I knew that there is a lot of hard work required to reach my goal of 650-680. However after completing
GMAT Official guide 2015, GMAT Verbal review 2015, GMAT Verbal review 2017, GMAT Quant review 2015 and a little of
GMAT official guide 2017, I am still stuck at a score of 530 (Q 41 V 22). However, the test on which i scored 530 was around 20 days after i scored 350. Since then my scores have been dropped drastically.
CAT 1 - 350
CAT 2 - 530 (Q 41, V 22)
CAT 3 - 490 (Q 36, V 22)
CAT 4 - 400 (Q 34, V 11)
CAT 5 - 410 (Q 27, V 19)
(CATs 2,3,4,5, are from Princetonreview Tests)
The CATs 4 and 5 were taken in the past week. I also took the GMATprep test just yesterday, i. e. 7th March, 17. and scored 400 ( Q29 V 17)
I cant understand where am i going wrong. After reviewing my test i did realize that i did a couple of silly mistakes. But after practicing so much how come my scores have dropped?
Please suggest me if i should adopt a different studying method or any such alternative.
Thanks
Have you practiced questions on this forum through 'My workbook'. If so, do you see a score estimate and if so what is it. If the answer is no, start working on daily questions inside 'my workbook' and review the discussion following each question that you get right or wrong. Be honest and do not try to cheat (which you easily can since the solution is always there for you to click and reveal). If you can manage that, you will have a fairly good idea of where you are wrong and you can then start learning those concepts better.
People who are good at Maths and English still stumble miserably when they first start at GMAT because most questions have that little trick that a casual reader can miss and you can be wrong about the answer even though you are confident in your solution. Your calculated answer may appear in options and make you feel confident "Well, I am right", but remember, even the wrong GMAT answers appear right since they do not just randomly throw answers, they go at length to find out the ways someone can trip on a question and list those answers as possible options.
