Hi,
I took my first GMAT back in Jan 2010. I had barely studied and thought it wouldn't be that bad. But naturally, I got a 610 (verbal 58 percentile/quant 65 percentile) due to my lack of effort. Determined that I could do better, I enrolled in a
Manhattan GMAT class (which helped a lot) and re-took the exam in August of 2010 hoping to cross the 700 mark. I didn't and scored a 680 (verbal 87 percentile/quant 68 percentile). Although my 680 wasn't an ideal score for a top school, I still applied given that I had a CPA, an undergrad gpa of 3.9 and had made manager in a Big-4 accounting firm in 4 years (I'm now in my 5th year within Corporate Tax). Out of the 4 schools I applied to I didn't get into 3, and got wait-listed in one (which was a pretty solid school as well).
Therefore, to improve my chances on the wait-list I sat for the GMAT again yesterday and to my complete disbelief I scored a 610 (verbal 47 percentile/quant 75 percentile). Over the last 2 months, I had give this test all I had - I had done all the questions in the
OG guides, Manhattan question banks from their website, Manhattan questions in the guides and had taken 8 practice tests. My scores for the Manhattan tests are as below:
CAT 6 730 (V 93%; Q 86%)
CAT1A 700 (V 83%; Q 86%)
CAT2A 710 (V 93%; Q 79%)
CAT3A 730 (V 99%; Q 77%)
CAT4A 710 (V 85%; Q 90%)
CAT5A 740 (V 93%; Q 95%)
I also took the two GMAT provided tests and scored a 710 on both of them. Having scored over a 700 on all my practice tests I was sure that I could knock this one out. However, I was shocked to see my actual score.
Could anyone help me with what I can do to improve? I am planning to take the test again on July 5th. I don't want to give up because I know that I can hit the 700 mark. I am specifically looking for material on difficult GMAT practice tests and difficult GMAT practice questions. I believe I am well prepared and therefore just want to keep taking difficult practice tests/questions.
Also, I have one more question - could there have been an error on my test? When I started my test, I was logged in by one individual who then again logged me back into my test after my essay section. After my math section however, that lady was not there and there was another person. This other person tried to log me back into my test for my verbal section but her username/password wasn't going through. She tried twice and then she called someone else (different from the first person who had initially logged me into my computer) who logged into the computer. I'm just wondering whether my verbal scores got mixed up with someone else's as a different person logged me onto the computer for my verbal section? Its just a thought since I cannot imagine how my verbal score went down so much.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!
