Those are just rules of thumb, imo.
Your sectional scores depends on multiple factors, such as the difficulty level of the questions you got wrong, position(s) of your wrong answers, and whether you have made revision to your answers, etc.
Also, Quant scoring is more unforgiving, while Verbal and DI scoring is more forgiving.
Have you tried any official mock tests? When it comes to scoring and algorithm, the official mocks are your best guidance.

Hello, I was wondering whether scoring
625 on the GMAT Focus with
5 errors in Quant (score 79),
5 errors in Verbal (score 82), and
4 errors in Data Insights (score 82) is not a bit
weird.
I had seen information before and taken multiple
GMAT Club tests where
8 errors in Data Insights could still give an
82, and similarly in
Quant, around
4 errors could sometimes result in an
82.
So I was wondering whether this is just
how the algorithm works, or if there might be something unusual, because I had this scoring pattern in mind and was quite surprised when I received my
official results.
Thank you for your response, and sorry for the disturbance.
