Hi folks, need some advice on how should i optimise on this retake that I’m planning in the next 16 days.

I feel quant is strong, verbal is not particularly strong but I’m really stretched for time if i try to get everything right at the beginning of the exam. DI - non math related and time management are the core issues.

I am planning to do R2 for top 15 schools, and need some advice on how to optimise the next 16 days.
Hi jjwclub,

Your quant and DI scores are amazing. Are the scores you mentioned from your first GMAT? If they are, what do you think you need to work on in verbal, and do you get similar verbal scores on the official practice tests?

Hi jjwclub,

Since you have just 16 days, a great way to improve your skills is with topical practice. For example, let’s say that you want to practice Number Properties. You can do so by answering 50 or more questions just from Number Properties: LCM, GCF, units digit patterns, divisibility, remainders, etc.

After each problem set, thoroughly analyze your incorrect questions. For example, if you got a remainder question wrong, ask yourself why. Did you make a careless mistake? Did you not properly apply the remainder formula? Was there a concept you did not understand in the question?

By carefully analyzing your mistakes, you will be able to fix your weaknesses efficiently and, in turn, improve your GMAT quant skills. Number Properties is just one example; follow this process for all quant, verbal, and DI topics.

For some more advice, here is a great article you can check out:

Yes it's my first gmat. My verbal scores varied - from 81-85 on the 3 tests I took. One pattern was that I am able to only finish 16-17 questions, and randomly mark the rest due to time management.

Also, whats not visible is that I spent an awful amt of time on my first 5 verbal questions (all CR) - close to 19 mins.

Trying to Fine Tune my process there.

19 minutes for 5 CR questions is quite a lot. The good news is that if you could see a score increase simply by taking care of time management. Have you also thought about setting a couple of time markers, like after the 8th and 15th questions?
