Hi,
I have taken my GMAT and got a disappointing score.
630 (Q50/V26) with IR 6 is my score. Expecting 5.5 to 6 in AWA. (Used PerfectScore template in YouTube which is very helpful for AWA)
Yet to figure out fully what went wrong with my Verbal.
According to me, to perform well in GMAT, one needs to know the concepts and know the GMAC's mindset.
For Quants, in which I am good at it, I clearly know the concepts and understand how GMAC is framing the trap answers. These two helped me to ace the Quant section with ease. Whereas in Verbal, I studied the concepts and but still not clear about GMAC strategy. While facing the Verbal Questions, I clearly eliminated two to three answer choices. But fell for the wrong answer choice in the remaining I guess. Also reading really big sentences makes me to reread the question to get the good picture of what they are asking.
I used Princeton Review online courses for both sections. But I had very good knowledge of Quant topics as I am CAT aspirant as well. Do I need to take some other courses that can help me improve the Verbal score?
Can anyone help me with a plan/strategy/technique to all three types (SC/CR/RC) in Verbal section?

I am in similar situation. I have taken GMAT on 18th and got 600 (V 23 and Q 49).
You are correct that it is important to find the weakness in verbal. I do feel that I know a bit of traps in Quant which helped me to score 49. However, I find Verbal too easy. 3 RC's were very easy. I am not working currently and want to focus full time on GMAT.
I am planning to attempt in October.
do you think for such a low score in verbal, I should order "Unofficial Score Report" ??

Hi agility,
First off, a 630/Q50 is a good score (it's a bit below the 80th percentile overall), so it might be enough to get you into your first-choice Business School (depending on the School and the strength of your OVERALL profile).
That having been said, with a V26, you're missing out on lots of points in all 3 Verbal categories (SC, RC and CR). Thankfully, the Verbal section of the GMAT is as predictable and standardized as the Quant section is, so you CAN train to score at a higher level.
Before I can offer any advice on how to improve in these areas, I'd like to know more about how you studied:
1) How long did you study?
2) How much of that study time was spent focused on Verbal materials?
3) What "steps" do you go through when dealing with a typical SC, RC and CR question?
4) What is your goal score?
5) When are you planning to apply to Business School?

I'll write your verbal section and you write my quant section.
One thing is that I generally read through the choices on the verbal and picked the answer, rather than having to eliminate answers and then pick. However with the SC it was easy for me to rule out a few and narrow it down to one or two and then re-read those remaining answers, but typically I pick out the mistake as I'm reading the question, before reading the answer choices.
