Hi,
I have given GMAT thrice but unfortunately I failed on all 3 occasions and was only able to score 640. I wanted to know if the number of GMAT attempts have any effect on B-School Application consideration. If not then I would like to attempt once more and then submit my applications.
Can someone help me with this?
What is your score breakup?
Nowadays, we are hearing more and more about people not scoring as high as expected, especially in Verbal. Here is a post on possible reasons:
https://www.gmatclub.com/forum/veritas-prep-resource-links-no-longer-available-399979.html#/2013/08 ... bal-score/The schools get to see all your attempts. Usually, they focus only on the latest/highest score. But that's not the whole story. In my opinion, a person who has a 640 in a single attempt is marginally better off that one who had 640 and 3 attempts. (But GMAT is a small input in your overall application and the repeated attempts data will have an even smaller effect). That said, a 710 in a fourth attempt is better than a 640 is a third attempt. So what I am saying is that go in for the fourth attempt only if you are convinced that you are prepared for 700+ this time. Only if you have made some major changes to your preparation. Getting a 640 again wont be helpful at all.
