Hi harvardforsure,

650 is a great start! Regarding verbal, are you looking for general advice on how to improve those skills?

Yes this score is without prep. So need some guidance on the prep to use and time needed to ace verbal

I second the above suggestion.

How long have you been studying already? Are you a native speaker? In anycase, Verbal strategies can be mastered once you get a hang on the concepts GMAC usually incorporates in the sections.

For the high verbal score though, you would want to see 100% accuracy in sub-600, 90% accuracy in 600-700 level and >60% accuracy in 700-level questions. My suggestion would be to keep track of common mistakes you make, and keep on working to improve those.

All the best!!

I am not a native speaker and this score is without prep. Will use the prep providers above and test my skills. Thanks

Hey 650 is definitely a great score to start with

The list of best resource for each of the Verbal topics is as follows
SC - E-gmat is one of the best prep providers for verbal. You can alternatively stick to just Manhattan SC guide. but i personally like the course for it's structure
CR - Powerscore bible (Hands down the best CR book out there)
RC- You can use the Manhattan RC or Aristotle RC to improve

Spend 1-2 weeks reviewing these books / course

Start doing timed practice for all the OG problems

Quant : Do a mix of 15 PS / 15 DS every day (Can do 2 sets per day if you have the time)

Verbal: Do a mix of 13-15 SC / 10-12 CR / 2RC's (Can do 2 sets per day)

Kudos if it helps

Thanks for the help on Verbal.
On math I just need a brush up on concepts, could you recommend any book for the same.

Hi harvardforsure,

To start, a 650 is a fantastic initial CAT score (the average score on the Official GMAT hovers around 550 most years). Statistically-speaking, raising a 650 to the point that you can consistently score 730+ would likely require at least another 1.5 - 2 months of consistent, guided study. Thankfully, the GMAT is a consistent, predictable Exam, so you CAN train to score at a higher level.

Before I can offer you the specific advice that you’re looking for, it would help if you could provide a bit more information on how you've been studying and your goals:

1) What study materials do you currently have access to?
2) When are you planning to apply to Business School and what Schools are you planning to apply to?
3) Going forward, how many hours do you think you can consistently study each week?

GMAT assassins aren't born, they're made,
