Took my first GMAT FE and scored a 685! I just finished my final year of undergraduate and used this score to apply to deferred MBA programs.
Here are my scores in the order I tackled the exam:
- Quant: 81 (71st percentile)
- Verbal: 89 (100 percentile)
- Break
- DI: 82 (94th percentile)
Quant:
Quant has always been my weakness. In my initial diagnostic test, I scored 29 percentile. I completed TTP’s course in about six weeks and found it extremely helpful in establishing a foundational understanding for the content on the GMAT. I missed four questions, two of which I should have been able to solve.
Verbal:
Verbal has been my strong suit. I scored 98 percentile on my diagnostic but felt I was guessing on multiple questions. Again, I used TTP and felt significantly more confident approaching this section. TTP’s practice problems were harder than what I saw on the GMAT.
DI:
For DI, I took 30 seconds on each problem. If I had an approach to solving it, I solved it. If I was lost after 30 seconds, I made an educated guess. While I was planning to review the guesses at the end, I didn’t manage time appropriately and was stuck with my answers. Going back, I would be more intentional about time management.
Overall, to improve my GMAT preparation I would have:
- Spent time reviewing official GMAT quant questions after completing the TTP course.
- Experimented with different orders for Q/V/DI.
- Taken/reviewed the final 3 practice tests.
