Just finished the GMAT, scored 690. After 5 months of consistent prep, I'm done and happy with my score. Too many people on here bloat about how they score 730+. If you're from an overrepresented demographic then you may need that score, if that doesn't apply that anything over 650+ is suffice. There isn't that much difference between a Tier 1 school and a tier 2 school and the GMAT is only a small fraction of the application. Here's everything I would advise you to do.
Hi sharkattack101,

That's a great score. Congratulations. :)

I don't think too many genuine test takers boast about their scores here. In fact, the number of debriefs on GMAT Club is actually quite small, considering the number of people who take the GMAT and get, say, 690 / 700+ scores (~25,000 / 13,300 every year, used to be significantly higher before the pandemic started). There are a couple of other factors that you should keep in mind:

1. Many test takers with high scores may be... encouraged (emails, phone calls, both) by test prep companies to post debriefs mentioning them. In my experience, the vast majority of debriefs are very helpful, and I don't see people boasting about their scores here.

2. I've seen more and more highly motivated people taking the GMAT over the last few years (many people who were not as serious about their MBA plans may have dropped out of the pool). I may be wrong, but from what I've seen, average scores have actually gone up.

You're absolutely right about aiming for a score that works for you, and I agree that there are many good schools out there. All the best.

Congrats on reaching your score goal!

Some nice tips too.

That said, I disagree with this.

Once you've spent 3-4 months preparing there is little more you can do.
From what I've seen, GMAT test-takers can continue to improve their scores as much as they want as long as they keep preparing.

In any case, nice work, and may all go well for you going forward.
