So I took the GMAT last weekend and got a 660 (Q45 V36). There are two reasons I think I messed up on test day:
1. I wasted a lot of valuable time on a single math question and that resulted in me guessing on the last 4 questions due to lack of time
2. In the break between my quant and verbal sections when I cam back I had 5 min left of the break, I went to sign in and the computer froze. The test proctor came over and tried to unfreeze it by the time they were able to unfreeze it it had burned through the allotted time and deducted around 3 min from my allotted verbal time. This resulted in me rushing a bit more than normal.
So I am going to sign up for another test (working with Pearson VUE on getting it situated due to their system error). My question for the community is as follows: I want to score 700+, I am very close and know I can get there. As I do not want to take the GMAT a third time I am wondering if I should take a class (Kaplan,
MGMAT, Veritas, etc.) to help supplement my studies. I had read some things on Kaplan's Advanced course - tempted to shy away from that given the negative consensus, but I am a big fan of the advanced concept. I am also tempted by
MGMAT and Veritas which by and large receive positive reviews from the community. I used
MGMAT books in my original preparation so I am not sure if it will be that beneficial for me to use their class. I would prefer to take an advanced class as I have no real issues with basics (except for maybe in the sentence correction department). This leaves Veritas which I have no real interaction with and do not know much about.
I am already going through
MGMAT SC book for a second time to better teach myself SC. I am also going to work through the PowerScore CR Bible for the first time. I have never had issues with RC (very rarely if ever get one wrong).
I have taken practices tests my scores are as follows:
MGMAT 1 - 700 (Q44 v 40)
MGMAT 2- 680 (Q48 v35)
MGMAT 3 -690 (Q46 V38)
GMAT Prep 1 - 690 (Q50 v34)
GMAT Prep 2 - 680 (Q45 V38)
I am going to use GMAT club quant tests to study the quant side as my main issue is timing (easily fixable with practice). On verbal as previously mentioned my strategy is to go over
MGMAT SC (for the 2nd time) and PowerScore CR Bible (first time). In practices the bulk of my errors came from SC and CR (weighted more towards SC).
I want to ensure that this next go around is my final. Based on work and my schedule my next (and final) attempt at the GMAT will likely take place in April or May so time is on my side.
I would appreciate any feedback or thoughts on courses I could take to augment my studying or if they think that would just be a waste of time altogether.
Thanks!
