I didn't understand the question at all, but I solved it using the SC principles.

A. Correct
B. Wrong: "since" (to indicate causality) is wrong in SC, ONLY in SC. "since" is valid in SC, if it refers to time.
C .Wrong: clauses cannot be located after "because of"
D. Wrong: "due to" means "caused by". It doesn't match in this sentence.
E. Wrong: Usually, a relative clause inside other relative clause is wrong.

1. In that - Used to talk about some aspects

2. since - Can be either used as a Preposition/conjunction

3. because of - sed to talk about all aspects

4. due to - Can be repalced by " caused by "

Used the aforementioned relues to determine the answer (A)

I believe that the SC above should read as follows:

B:  A block of multimedia text differs from a paragraph in a linear narrative since  the work is necessarily fragmented . 
Here, the conveyed meaning is that the portion in red CAUSES a block of multimedia text to differ from a paragraph in a linear narrative.
Not the intended meaning.
The intended meaning of the original sentence is that the portion in red is the WAY in which a block of multimedia text and a paragraph in a linear narrative differ.
Eliminate B.

A preposition may not be followed by a complete clause.
The object of a preposition must be a NOUN.
C:   of   the work is necessarily fragmented  
D:   to   the work is necessarily fragmented  
In each of these options, the preposition in blue is incorrectly followed by the clause in red.
Eliminate C and D.

E:  a linear narrative that the work is necessarily fragmented 
This meaning is nonsensical.
Eliminate E.
