I prefer to solve equtions usually, but in this cas used a different approach. n - number of cupcakes. k - number of brownies. So 5n+4k=34 -------> n must be even. n+k=8 n k 0 not integer 2 6 4 not integer 6 1 8 not positive So it is only 2 and 6. So option E. Given:
Price of cupcake : 5$Price of brownie : 4$

Let the number of brownies be x.
Also, the number of cupcakes are 8-x
We have been given the total amount earned by selling both Cupcakes and Brownies are 34$. Therefore, 4x + 5(8-x) = 34 4x + 40 - 5x = 34 x = 6.
