(21 + 51= 72 , 49 + 23 = 72 , and so on)
There are 8 pairs, therefore,
20 + 72 ( 8 ) = 596

Given: A certain drive-in movie theater has total of 17 rows of parking spaces. There are 20 parking spaces in the first row and 21 parking spaces in the second row. In each subsequent row there are 2 more parking spaces than in the previous row.
Asked: What is the total number of parking spaces in the movie theater?
Total number of parking spaces in the movie theater = 20 + 21 + 23 + 25 + ..... 17 terms
= 20 + 21 + 23 + 25 + ... (21 + 15*2) = 20 + 21 + 23 + .... + 51 = 20 + 16/2 (21+51) = 20 + 8*72 = 20 + 576 = 596

From row 2 to row 17, the difference between two consecutive rows’ parking spaces is 2.
Thus, the number of parking spaces per row will form an arithmetic progression.
Thus, the sum of parking spaces in these 16 rows = 16/2*[2*21 + (16 - 1)*2] = 8*[42 + 30] = 576.
After adding the number of spaces of row 1,
Total spaces = 576 + 20 = 596.
Thus, the correct option is C.
