1.Exactly 80 % of caramel ice cream made in July contained over 10 percent milk
Of this amount 1/4 contained over 20 percent milk
=> 1/4 of 80%=20% of caramel ice cream contained over 20 percent milk

But , there is no information given about chocolate ice cream . Hence , we can't comment on the total percentage of
ice cream with over 20 percent milk.

2.We don't have any information that this 1000 gallons is what percentage of the total ice cream or even chocolate ice cream.

Combining 1 and 2,
We don't have information of what percentage of total ice cream is chocolate or caramel.
Hence , E not sufficient.

ICE CREAM MADE IN JULY ----- CHOCOLATE AND CARAMEL -----EACH CHOCOLATE AND CARAMEL HAS TWO VARIETY .

LETS BREAK THE QUESTION WHAT IS ASKED ...
1. SO TO CALCULATE 2/5 of all the ice cream ...WE NEED TO FIND THE TOTAL ICE CREAM.
2 . EACH CHOCOLATE AND CARAMEL WITH OVER 20 % MILK .


LETS GO TO THE OPTION ...

ST 1 . 80 % = CARAMEL ICE CREAM... COULD BE ANY VALUE ...SAY CARAMEL BE 100 OR 1000 . SO NOT SUFFICIENT
PLUS THERE IS NO CLUE OF CHOCOLATE ICE CREAM

ST 2. IT CLEARLY GIVES THE TOTAL QUANTITY OF CHOCOLATE WITH 20 % ABOVE MILK CONTAINED .
NO CLUE ON CARAMEL ICE CREAM


TOGETHER 1 AND 2

STILL WE DONT THE ACTUAL VALUE OF CARAMEL ICE CREAM .

This means that there are four total possibilities: chocolate over 20%, chocolate under 20%, caramel over 20%, and caramel under 20%. You are looking for the combined fraction of the ice cream that is over 20% milk.

Statement 1: 80% of the caramel ice cream contained over 20% milk. This statement is not sufficient because you know nothing about the chocolate ice cream. Eliminate choices A and D.

Statement 2: 1,000 gallons of chocolate ice cream contained over 20% milk. This statement does not tell you how many gallons of chocolate ice cream were
made a as whole. It is not as useful as statement 1 and is certainly not sufficient alone. Eliminate choice B.

Together: You know that 4/5 of the caramel ice cream is over 20% milk, but you do not know what the proportion is for the chocolate ice cream. The number “1,000 gallons” from Statement 2 is not particularly useful in this situation. Even with both statements together there is not enough information.

The correct answer is E.

Statement 1 states clearly something else than what you have in the official Veritas explanation.

You stated according to the official Veritas explanation the following:

But below, you read a totally different Information in statement 1.

Statement 1 doesNOT say 80% of the caramel ice cream contained over 20% milk,

but it says

Exactly 80 percent of the caramel ice cream made in July contained over 10 percent milk, and of this amount, 1/4 contained over 20 percent milk.

These are two totally different information!

Yeah that is incorrectly stated, statement (1) says " Exactly 80 percent of the caramel ice cream made in July contained over 10 percent milk, and of this amount, 1/4 contained over 20 percent milk." which means 25% of (80% of caramel ice cream)" = 20% of caramel ice cream had over 20 percent milk.
