40S+20T = 340
2S+T = 17
Also, S+T = 10, T = 10-S
2S+10-S = 17
S = 7

E is the answer.

Back solve the question.

shirt/piece = 40

tie/piece = 20

Total price = 340.

Total 10 items. Given choices are the number of shirts.

Option E) 7 shirts. So, tie must be 3.

7 * 40 = 280

3 * 20 = 60.

280 + 60 = 340.

$$40s + 20t = 340$$

Or, $$2s + t = 17$$

Further , $$s + t = 10$$

Substitute $$t = 10 - s$$ and solve

$$2s + 10 - s = 17$$

Or, $$s = 7$$ , Thus Answer must be (E)
