Hi
GMATNinja KarishmaBFor statement 2, how can we assume that
sales tax is the only tax considered for the total price? If this is the case then statement 2 shouldn't be sufficient alone to answer the question because we don't how much are the other taxes like x, y, z, etc. Please let me know where I thought wrong here. I had selected Option (A) due to this thinking.
From the wording of the question, we can figure that only sales tax is in play.
6 shirts priced at $10.99 each,
excluding sales tax$11.54 for each shirt,
including sales taxIn a generic economic model, one would normally have pre tax cost and with tax cost and that tax would be sales tax at the consumer level. Hence I don't find any ambiguity in this question.
Though rest assured that if, in the experimental stage, they find that it does cause ambiguity, they would not make it live.
