1. True
Average of the flights before 1960s is 176800 (185000, 225000, 157000, 168000, 149000)
Average of the flights on or after 1960s is 160800 (210000,142000,198000,133000,121000)
Therefore true.

2. True
Domestic Flights with less than 40,000 flights = 21000,29000,37000,25000
International flights for respective domestic flights = 142000,157000,168000,149000
Therefore true.

3. True
Median for international flights for airports opened before 1960s = 168000
Median for international flights for airports opened on or after 1960s = 142000
Therefore true.

A European transportation agency collected data on 10 major airports. The table records the year each airport was first opened, the year it was most recently renovated, and annual flight volumes.

Lisbon AeroPortugal1980201312100042000163000
Oslo FjordNorway1948201214900025000174000

For each of the following statements, select True if it is correct based on the table. Otherwise select False.

Question 1:

Among the airports that opened before 1960, the average number of international flights is greater than the average number of international flights at airports that opened in or after 1960.

If we sort the table with the year of opening, we find the list of airports opened before 1960:

Vienna Nord, Madrid Norte, Paris Est, Oslo Fjord, and Zurich Alpen.

Average = (157000+ 185000 + 225000 + 149000 + 168000) / 5 = 176800.

And these list corresponds to the airports opened on or after 1960.

Berlin Central, Rome Sud, Warsaw Hub, Lisbon Aero, and Helsinki West.

Average = ( 210000 + 198000+ 133000 + 121000 + 142000)/5 = 160800.

Hence, YES.

QUESTION 2:

Every airport with fewer than 40,000 domestic flights has at least 140,000 international flights.

The airports with fewer than 40,000 domestic flights and their corresponding international flights are as follows:

Helsinki West: 21,000 domestic flights, 142,000 international flights.

Oslo Fjord: 25,000 domestic flights, 149,000 international flights.

Vienna Nord: 29,000 domestic flights, 157,000 international flights.

Zurich Alpen: 37,000 domestic flights, 168,000 international flights.

so, the number of international flights is atleast 140,000.

Hence, YES.

QUESTION 3:

The median number of international flights among airports opened before 1960 is greater than the median number of international flights among airports opened in or after 1960.

We already know from question1, the airports which are opened before 1960 and opened on or after 1960. The median international flights for both the cases are:

Airport opened before 1960: The international flight numbers are 157,000, 185,000, 225,000, 149,000, and 168,000. MEDIAN value = 168000.

Airport opened on or after 1960: The international flight numbers are 210,000, 198,000, 133,000, 121,000, and 142,000. MEDIAN value = 142000.

Clearly, the median value before 1960 is GREATER than median value on or after 1960. Hence, YES.

The answer should be
1. True
2. True
3. True

question 1:
Among the airports that opened before 1960, the average number of international flights is greater than the average number of international flights at airports that opened in or after 1960.
: sort by year opened field.
Now simply take the average of all the airports before 1964 it is coming to 1094000 /6=1,82,333.3333333333

Now for airports after 1964 the average is coming as : 594000÷4 =148500 so yes 1964 old airports> new airports

Option 2:
Every airport with fewer than 40,000 domestic flights has at least 140,000 international flights.
This is straight forward : , sort by domestic flights and check till 40000 flights all have internation flights more than 1,40,000.

Option 3 :
The median number of international flights among airports opened before 1960 is greater than the median number of international flights among airports opened in or after 1960.
The median for older than 1964 airports are : (168000 + 185000)/2=1,76,500

for newer than 64 airports : (133000+ 142000)/2= it will be less than 1,76,500 for sure. Hence this is true.

1.
I used calculator for this to quickly sum international flights
Before 1960 = 157+185+225+149+168 = 884
In or after 1960 = 210+198+133+121+142 = 804
Since both "before 1960" and "In or after 1960" have 5 data points the one with greater sum would have more average i.e. Before 1960 has more average
Hence TRUE

2.
Airport with fewer than 40,000 domestic flights: Helsinki West, Oslo Fjord, Vienna Nord and Zurich Alpen all have greater than 140K International Flights
Hence TRUE

3.
International flights among airports opened before 1960 in ascending order: 149, 157, 168, 185, 225
So median is 168
International flights among airports opened In or After 1960 in ascending order: 121, 133, 142, 198, 210
So median is 142
So Median of Before 1960> Median of In or after 1960
Hence TRUE
