A fruit basket contains the same number of apples and pears. If Eric eats 5 apples and 1 pear, there will be twice as many pears as apples. How many pears remain in the basket?
Ans. Basket contains same Apple & pear., Eaten 5 apples and 1 pear by eric.
there will be twice as many pears as apples , Most important line of this question & easy to understand,it say
- number of pears is equal to two times the number of apples.
meaning- if there are 1 apples, then there will be 2 pears
So if we go with the option values are twice of eaten by eric,
we need to half the value and +1 from already eaten one.
Only option B goes i.e 8/2=4 add 1 =>5 {Matches the first line of question,contains the same number}
