To maximise the number of widgets, the consumption should be minimum.
Rate= Work/Time= 2/150
Time= 3,450
Maximum number of widgets the machine can produce using 3,450 kw-hrs of electricity
=3450*(2/150)
=46 Widgets

Answer: A

To find the maximum number of widgets we need to divide the total electricity by the minimum power of electricity used :

max #widgets = 2*3450/150=46

A machine in a factory uses between 150 and 220 kilowatt-hours of electricity, inclusive, to produce two widgets. What is the maximum number of widgets the machine could produce using 3,450 kilowatt-hours of electricity?

Minimum requirement of kilowatt is 150. So, maximum numbers of units are, 3450/150= 23. Two wedges are produced using at least 150 kilowatt per unit.

Maximum number of widgets the machine could produce= 23x2=46.

Answer: A.

The language of the question is counter-intuitive. If more electricity is used , shouldn't it create more widgets?
What am I missing?

"A machine in a factory uses between 150 and 220 kilowatt-hours of electricity, inclusive, to produce two widgets." => this means that whether the machine uses 150 KwH or 220 KwH it will create only 2 widgets. So it is incorrect to assume that more electricity = more widgets.

Now, since we are asked to find the maximum in 3450 KwH, we will assume the best case scenario where 2 widgets are created using 150 KwH and proceed to solve.
