Bunuel 2 options are same here. Please Update.

1044/9 = 116
116/9 = 12 and remainder is 8
12/9 = 1 and remainder is 3
finally I'm getting remainder as 8+3+1 = 12
12/9 = 1 and remainder is 3 which is not going to help

so ultimately I'm getting 116+12+1+1 = 130
So C will be ans

Bunuel 2 options are same here. Please Update.

1044/9 = 116
116/9 = 12 and remainder is 8
12/9 = 1 and remainder is 3
finally I'm getting remainder as 8+3+1 = 12
12/9 = 1 and remainder is 3 which is not going to help

so ultimately I'm getting 116+12+1+1 = 130
So C will be ans

Hi Abir, i didn't understood your logic to solve this question . why are you dividing again n again by 9 n adding all the remainder

Because after burning the candles, he keeps repeating the process.

he burns the 116 candles made of stubs———-> there will be new stubs, of which he needs 9 to make another candle

Then he’ll burn those, make new candles out of the stubs, etc.

The question would have been tricker if it had the option of 129. I got 129 and then quickly realised my mistake.

I observed, when word maximum appears in question of higher level difficulty questions, there is always a trap.

A man has 1044 candles. After burning, he can make a new candle from 9 stubs left behind. Find the maximum number of candles that can be made.
