Hey fellow GMATclubers, I've posted this before but...
1. education : ivy league undergrad(economics); bad, bad gpa
2. work experience : central banking and military(6 years; 4 years post graduation), had bb offer last year but didn't bite
3. age : 29
4. GMAT : 770
should I get a masters degree at a local top university or get more work experience in central banking?
just a passing thought since if I can get an MBA at a top school then move into management consulting or finance would the risk of leaving my current job(which pays like s##t anyway) for a masters along the way be as great...
redalertmba,
You will already be above the average age for an MBA so if you want to get one, you should apply this year and not do anything else. Both of those options will actually likely hurt your chance of getting in. What is a bad, bad gpa though? Have you done anything to show your academic ability besides the GMAT since undergrad? How about extra-curriculars?
B schools like military applicants as you know, so I recommend getting everything together and applying by January. Send me a note if you want to discuss how I can help you with that.
