You can use algebra, but it is very easily and quickly solved using a smart number such as 100 as the original number.
Original Number = 100
20% increase ——-> 120
10% increase ———-> 132
Total increment in the number: [ (132 - 100) / 100 ] * (100%)
Answer: 32%

In % related questions, take the number as 100 and then move ahead.
Let the number be 100.
20% of 100 is 20, so new number is 100+20=120.
This number is increased by 10% or \(120*\frac{10}{100}=12\)
New number =120+12=132.
% increase = \(\frac{132-100}{100}*100=32%\)
