Blue:Yellow = 5:2
Since Yellow = 14, write the above ratio so that part equivalent to Yellow is equal to 14:
Blue:Yellow = 35:14.
We have 35 liters of blue paint, 14 liters of yellow paint and total of 49 liters of mixture.
We are adding only yellow paint, so that the mixture is 2/3 yellow. So, the new mixture must be 1/3 blue. This means that 35 liters of blue must comprise 1/3 of the total mixture after we add yellow paint:
1/3*(new total) = 35
(new total) = 105.
(new total) - (old total) = 105 - 49 = 56.
Answer: D.

first determine total qty of paint ;
2/7*x= 14
x= 49 ltrs which is total paint
now we want 2/3 to be yellow
so yellow needs to be added ;
14+x =2/3* ( 49+x)
x= 56 lts
