can someone post detail solution of  Q 3. I didn't understand solutions provided.
For question 3, let us say that we have 10 shopkeepers selling an average of Rs. 2 toffee, then the net average will be Rs. 2. Now, let us say that the shopkeepers sell an average of Rs. 2 or more of toffee, then the average will be 2 or more. This simply implies that if individual mean is at least x, then the net mean will also be at least x. Hence, if 5 is fulfilled 6 shall also be fulfilled.

Hi there,

Can anyone provide an explanation for this Question 2?

For each of the following values, select Yes if the information provided indicates that the value was greater for Month 1 than for Month 3. Otherwise, select No.
The total number of transactions for the month
The total value of all transactions for the month
The arithmetic mean value of all the transactions for the month

The arithmetic mean value of all the transactions for the month
VALUE: We are given total value of transactions in each of the three months in th eTAB 3. However, there is no other information which could help us break down these values amongst the  seven cashier.
NUMBER: But the number of transactions month wise for each cashier is given in TAB 2.

Thus, Number of transactions can be found but not values per month.

The total number of transactions for the month........YES
The total value of all transactions for the month........We can see that the total value of transactions for month 3 is greater than month 2.......NO
The arithmetic mean value of all the transactions for the month......NO

Yes No
The total number of transactions for the month

The arithmetic mean value of all the transactions for the month

2-1: YES [ M1 Transaction (14,242)> M3 Transaction (13,585)]
2-2: NO [M1 Value (159,937.66)< M3 Value (165,193.60)]
2-3: NO [Mean Value Per Transaction M1 (159,937.66/14,242=11.23) < M3 (165,193.60/13,585=12.15)]

I still did not get it. The ques was simply the 'Arithmetic Mean Value' of total transaction. It does not talk about 'value' of the transaction. It is asking the "Arithmetic Mean value' of Total transaction

If I understand you correctly, you’re confusing the phrase “arithmetic mean value of all the transactions” with the average number of transactions. It actually means the average monetary value per transaction, that is, total value divided by total number of transactions.
