\(π6^2*3 = π3^2*h\)

Or, \(6*2 = h\)

Or, \(h = 12\), Answer must be (D)

A solid metal cylinder with radius 6 and height 3 is melted down, and all of the metal is used to recast a new solid cylinder with radius 3. What is the height of the new cylinder?

Volume of cylinder = \(\pi r^2 h\)

Volume of initial cylinder = \(\pi6^2\) 3 = 108\(\pi\)

Volume of new cylinder = \(\pi 3^2 h \) = 9h\(\pi\)

108\(\pi\) = 9h\(\pi\)

Solving for h, we get H= 12
