A straight line, AB, passes through the origin of the standard Cartesian coordinate system. The line is inclined at an angle X. The value of X is equal to 2pi/3 . If the line AB is vertically translated by -2, then the equation of the line AB will be:

(a) y=-sqrt(3)x-2

(b) y=sqrt(3)x+2

(c) Not enough information is given.

(a)y =[[1/sqrt(3)]x]-2

x = 120

Equation of a line passing through origin:
y = mx = (tan 120)x = sqrt(3) x

If the line is vertically translated by -2, equation of the line becomes: -
y = sqrt(3)x - 2
