take LCM of the hours of A & B 12,18 ; 36
so A can do work of 3 units and B of 2 units
total 5 units work done in 2 hours
so for every 2 hrs 5 unit works is being completed , to get to 36 units of work we do 7*5 ; 35 units or say 2*7 ; 14 hours of work
since 1st unit work is done by A ; so it takes 60/3 ; 20 mins
hence answer would be 14 hours 20 mins
OPTION D

A. 13
B. 13 hours and 20 minutes
C. 14 hours
D. 14 hours and 20 minutes
E. 15 hours

We see that every two hours, 1/12 + 1/18 = 3/36 + 2/36 = 5/36 of a job will be done. In seven 2-hour periods (i.e., in 14 hours), 7 x 5/36 = 35/36 of the job will be done, which means only 1/36 of the job will remain undone. The last 1/36 of the job will be completed by A, whose rate is 1/12. Therefore, A will complete the last 1/36 of the job in (1/36)/(1/12) = 1/36 x 12 = 1/3 hour = 20 minutes. In other words, the entire job will be completed in 14 hours and 20 minutes.
