Let attendees on Wednesday be w, attendees on Friday be f. So, attendees on Thursday = w + f - 20.
Question : How many more attendees were there on the Wednesday than on the Friday? i.e. we need to find ' w - f = ? '
Statement 1 : There were twice as many attendees on the Thursday than there were on the Friday.
Attendees on Thursday = 2 * Attendees on Friday
w + f -20 = 2f
=> subtracting 2f from both sides : w - f -20 = 0
> w - f = 20
Sufficient
Statement 2 : There were 50 attendees on the Thursday.
> w+f-20 = 50
> w +f = 70
Not Sufficient
