CBS said the first deposit of $2000 must be received by the admissions office and the second deposit of $1000 will be due by December XX, 2012

Was the deposit used to be $ 6000?

Interesting. This is what they say on the website:

Applicants must submit a nonrefundable $6,000 tuition deposit within two weeks of admission

These are the deposit guidelines for Regular Decision. Early Decision admits have a $6,000 deposit.

Schools are very strict with their deposit requirements and as you can see, the dollars can add up pretty quickly. This all rolls into the basic idea of developing an application schedule that will allow you to hear from all of your top programs around the same time so that multiple deposits will not have to be sent. Setting such a schedule is definitely one of the easier aspects of the b-school admissions process.
