I was recently accepted at McDonough and waitlisted at Tuck, Darden, Ross, and Johnson. I'm split between accepting at McDonough or pursuing these waitlists.
Jobs: Data Analytics Consulting -> Congressional Campaign -> Political Fundraising Start-Up
Short Term Goal: To work in the private side of government and politics. Specifically, public sector focused consulting with Deloitte or Booz Allen in their DC offices.
McDonough Pros:
- DC Resources and Network
- Georgetown Reputation and Network
- Business/Government Intersection Offerings
McDonough Cons:
- Lower Ranking
I am tempted to accept McDonough as my goal is to move to DC, develop a network there, and work in the realm of government/politics. The only thing holding me back is its somewhat lower ranking. I am concerned that ranking may hold me back, especially in the short term, but I think I have a lot to gain due to my specific experience and career goals. In most scenarios one of these other schools is probably the smarter choice, but for my career vision they may not be?

Congrats on your McDonough Admit.
I think either way you have to accept the admit at this stage and pay the deposit.
At the same time, you will be in DC and have access to the Georgetown Law and UG networks. I don't think the MBA program is that involved in the DC world and life (some are I am sure) but most importantly it will be connection and political clubs in Law, School of Public Policy I assume they have, and Undergrad. It is convenient and fitting for your goals.
I think either way you have to accept the admit at this stage and pay the deposit.
