Hey guys,
Good to be here, it’s been a while! Used this forum tons when prepping for GMAT/ Apps in 2019.
I’m working on a new project and wanted to get prospective students’ thoughts on how they approach business school essays. Super Grateful if you could help answer 2 questions:
Q1: How do you prep for your b-school essays?
Q2: Would it be helpful to read past successful students’ essays? Why or why not?

Hi. I think it will be helpful to have access to past essays.
We have had someone come up with a similar idea a few years ago and we are working on launching a store that will allow current and past students to list their essays for sale. We are hoping to launch it in 2-3 weeks. We are so far recruiting people who got admitted this year with freshest essays and applications but will be taking anyone and everyone soon after launch.
P.S. You are welcome to create another product - there are a few similar products that have been around such as HBS Essays and books put out by a number of admissions consultants and you are welcome to compete with us or compliment our offering - there are no issues obviously.

1. How I prepped was first drawing what my goals are, and zeroing in on what story I wanted to tell. Then I wrote the first draft and edited it over and over until I thought it answered the prompt. And then I had my friends read it and give me feedback. Submitted after a dozen more edits.
2. While it might be helpful to read other people's essays, I think I would be too tempted to borrow from them, leading to my essays not sounding authentically like me. I feel being authentic and writing essays in your own voice is paramount, and I wouldn't want to compromise on that by feeling like there is a certain quality that has worked for other students and so it might work for me too.
