According to the preparation direction on a can of frozen apple juice concentration, a can of concentrate is to be mixed with 3.5 cans of water to prepare apple juice. How many 8 ounce cans of the concentrate are needed to make 2880 ounce servings of apple juice ?

1 can concentrate mixes with 3.5 cans of water to give 3.5+1 = 4.5 cans of mix
Thus, 2880 ounces corresponds to 4.5 cans
Hence, concentrate required, i.e. 1 can would correspond to 2880/4.5 = 640 ounces of concentrate
However, we know that each can of concentrate is of 8 ounces.
Thus, number of actual cans of concentrate required = 640/8 = 80

The word mixed hints that concentrate and water are mixed. So 1 CAN + 3.5 CANs are mixed.
We need 2880 ounce servings, which means that the mix must fill these servings. So if you have 4.5 CANs, you can have 1 CAN with 2880/4.5 = 640 ounce of concentrate.
But! we are informed that each CAN is 8 ounce. Hence, the number of cans would be 640/8 = 80 CANs. ------------- OPTION D
