Adding two non multiples of x always results in a multiple of x; which of the following can be the value of x ?
[A] two
three
[C] five
[D] ten
[E] hundred

Take simple numbers to understand the concept before hitting it...

Say x = 2

The non multiple can be 1 (Definitely 1 is not a multiple of 2)

Now add two multiples of 2 , ie 1 + 1 = 2 ( Resulting in the number x )

[b]Thus the value of x can be 2 ad the non multiple can be 1 , satisfying the conditions stated in the question stem

PS : Ausitn Bro , plz mention the source

Not ONLY which of the following CAN but I believe IT is the ONLY ONE..

NON- multiples of 2 would always be ODD and sum of two odd would be EVEN.
so irrespective of value of non-multiples, sum of two them would always be even and thus multiple of 2..
A

[b]I believe, if you pick any three non-multiples of an integer and add them, it will always be non-multiple of that integer..
Again 2 should be the ONLY value..

Yes Sir chetan2u
Two is the only number for which if we add two non multiples => we get a multiple => This is ALWAYS TRUE

Best

By the way Chirag, read your profile and did not comment in detail since it is not my area..
But It does sound very promising and helping your father in business at that young age should be a + point and an advantage..
I am sure the way you are into GMAT, you will get a good score to aim for the best schools.. :gl :gl

i think it's A.
if 2 non-multiples are added, it means 2 odd numbers are added. result of this operation is an even number, which is a multiple of 2.
