Hi,

I took my GMAT today and scored 670 (V33, Q49). I know, it's not a very good score but considering the fact how much I have struggled in Verbal I am quite satisfied with the score. I have decided to apply to ISB, NUS (Singapore) and NTU (Singapore). Do I stand a chance to get admission in either of these universities? Secondly, should I apply to any other schools? Also I need to know whether TOEFL/IELTS is a must for applying to schools in Singapore and other Asian countries.

Here's a brief of my profile: 10th - 90.6%, 12th - 82.4%, Graduation (B.Tech) - 70.13%, Post Graduation (PGDBA, Symbiosis) - 75.55%
I have 5+ years of Non-IT work experience in technical textiles and healthcare. I currently own a startup related to the same. I am also working on a MSI project and I am also founder of a NGO. I have a few volunteer works with NGOs and Hospitals as well. Considering all my 5 years of experience has been business oriented I'm not sure how to express that in the profile or what is considered valuable in the applications. The deadlines are just over a month and I am starting to apply in the colleges now. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Prateek

Hi prtkbnsl,

Given that lots of people from India apply with high scores, 670 is tad lower. However, you need to do the best what is left now – application – to have a chance at your target schools. (Well, this should be the case even if you’ve a high score.) Show a well-thought career path, connecting the dots from your past. What are the professional experiences – just a different industry sitting on the resume is not enough – that make you different? Whatever field you’re in, show progress, impact you’ve made, and leadership and other managerial skills.

Your High School grades don’t matter much. On TOEFL/IELTS, most schools don’t require the score if you’ve had undergrad education in English. However, schools may vary somewhat in their policies in this regard. It’s best to check their individual policies. You may learn more on this here.

You also need to explain the need for a second MBA.
